15. Fish Disease Research Unit, University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHO)

About

The mission of Fish Disease Research Unit, University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (TiHo) is to improve the health of fish in aquaculture and hobby farming. This includes studying animal welfare in fish husbandry, stunning, and slaughtering, developing environmentally friendly technologies for fish rearing, improving fish feed, researching the spread of infectious agents in fish populations, improving vaccination technologies and analysing the immune response of fish to protect them against viral, bacterial and parasitic infections.

Role in project

Fish Disease Research Unit is involved in vaccine development (WP3), development and improvement of diagnostic methods and protocols (WP6) and monitoring of fish welfare (WP7) bringing its expertise in working with common carp.
